Position Vacant: Racing And Marketing Manager

KRIS Lees is seeking a new Racing and Marketing Manager following Lucas Miller’s decision to embark on a new career path.

Miller, 34, will finish with Lees Racing on Friday week to join NIB Group, which provides health and medical insurance to more than one million Australians as well as international expats working and travelling overseas, as Commercial Partnerships Manager.

“Lucas has done a terrific job here, but I understand his reasons for leaving and wish him every success in his new job,” Lees said today.

“I am sorry to see him go and he is going to be difficult to replace, but hopefully we will be able to find the right person with racing knowledge and acumen to join our team.

“I look forward to hearing from anyone who considers they have the credentials to fill the role.”

Miller has been with Lees Racing for eight and a half years, and says he has enjoyed every minute.

“I would not have been afforded this position with NIB but for Kris’ mentorship over that time,” he said.

“I’m sure what I have learned from him will stand me in good stead in my new job.

“The COVID pandemic got me thinking about a career change, becoming aware I have gone as far as I can in racing for now, though also realising I can always come back down the track.

“It’s the right time to make the move, and to be able to join an expanding local company such as NIB provides me with a great opportunity to further a business career.

“I will still be based in Newcastle, but it will certainly be a lifestyle change as I went from playing rugby league professionally to racing, where both involved weekend commitments.”

Australian health care fund NIB was established in the NSW Hunter Region in 1952 initially to provide health insurance for workers at BHP Steelworks, and has since grown into a national and international operation.
